Asthma Education

Through its local Community Care of North Carolina Program, Community Health Partners conducts a monthly asthma education program for children and adults titled Pediatric and Adult Asthma: Taking Control of your Health (PAATCH). Classes are provided on a monthly basis by a Respiratory Therapist and are designed to teach adults and children living with asthma and their families self care skills.

The PAATCH program is based on the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma form the National Institute of Health. Class content covers:

• The basic anatomy and physiology of asthma
• Signs and symptoms of asthma
• Trigger identification
• Ways to control asthma
• Peak flow meter use
