HIV Case Management

GFHS provides medical and dental services to more HIV-infected patients than any other primary care provider in Gaston County. In addition, GFHS provides case management and benefit advocacy services to HIV/AIDS infected patients and their families. Many of the HIV-positive patients have lost the support of their families and some are unable to hold jobs due to their illness, while their disease makes them intensive users of medical resources. By virtue of a Ryan White Care Act grant, GFHS receives reimbursement for the care of uninsured HIV patients, the employment of a HIV Case Manager to work with patients in need of care coordination services, and to serve as the payor for referrals of these patients to specialists.
